6 Ways to Fully Earn Your Valentine’s Day Chocolates, Candy and Sweets

Posted by 310 Nutrition on

Valentine’s Day is here again: a day of love, romance and the inevitable array of too-good-to-pass-up SWEETS! But what is this day without some of its most popular treats, namely chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate?! If you want to indulge a bit on this holiday, you’re going to have to work for it!

Here are some ways you can relish in a few desserts you so deserve, while still feeling like a million bucks at the end of the day.

1. Don't skip your workout

It's actually simpler then you think to stay in shape - and to workout, everyday. There are plenty of easy exercises you can do from the comfort of your own home - and easy equipment you can use to achieve fast results. An example?! A jump rope! When used correctly, this simplistic tool can help you burn off calories and drop pounds!

2. Reevaluate your habits

Are you constantly putting yourself down instead of building yourself up? Or are you drowning in stress without taking the time for self-care? Certain self-defeating behaviors can have us reaching for the wrong things to make ourselves feel better, including unhealthy foods or even people. But there are healthier ways to bring more positive energy into your life. It all starts with awareness of what you are doing wrong, so you can make the conscious decision to act differently. What do you want to change today?

3. Give Yourself Some Extra LOVE

Whether or not you have a valentine, you can still give yourself the extra love you deserve because that's what Valentine's Day is all about! Love flowers? Then get yourself your favorite kind and display them somewhere you can see them often. Or reach out to someone to tell them you care...making others feel special is a surefire way to lift yourself up as well. Win-win!

4. Repeat after me: "LESS sugar"

It's all about balance and moderation, but there's sugar in so many products -- even ones you wouldn't suspect! Read labels to start. If there's sugar in your granola bar, your yogurt, your salad dressing, and even in the pasta sauce you're having for dinner, it all adds up! Count the amount of sugar you're consuming so you can make better choices and save your intake of this addictive ingredient for the foods you truly desire.

5. Pick a Few Healthier Treats to Indulge In

It doesn't only have to be a box of chocolates; what about a fruit plate, healthier baked goods, or a deliciously satisfying smoothie, like the recipe below?

Or, what about a delicious parfait like this one?!
