If you’re on the keto diet, you know how hard it can be to stick to your strict low-carb/high fat dietary regimen 24/7. Without proven solutions to make your life easier, it can be challenging to keep whipping up new and exciting meals. But just because you’re on keto, doesn’t mean you always have to stay home…
We think you deserve a break from the kitchen. Which is why we’ve created a brand new city dining guide series – bringing you the best keto restaurant options in cities across the US! All the fun and all the taste, all without stepping out of ketosis.
Of course, we’re starting in our very own backyard with the city of Los Angeles. From fancy steak places to healthy fast food, you’ll find something for every mood and occasion. We've also created a keto calculator to help you easily keep track of your calories and macros.
Make sure you check back on the 310 blog often… We’ll be posting a keto dining guide in a new city every week!
1) Del Friscos
1551 Ocean Ave, Ste 105, Santa Monica
When you’re in the mood for a mouthwatering steak, Del Frisco’s doesn’t disappoint! Indulge in a succulent filet mignon, a hearty New York strip, or a juicy ribeye. You’ll also find tasty, keto-friendly side dishes to complement your meat, like baby zucchini parmesan.
Keto Menu Highlight: For an indulgent meal while eating out on keto, get the roasted prime rib (only available on Fridays and Saturdays)!
2) APL Restaurant
1680 Vine St, Los Angeles
When it comes to keto restaurants, this one is truly “meat heaven” for those on the keto diet! Along with special cuts of steak, you can also enjoy their signature short rib, along with their lamb or bone-in pork chops. Top it off with some horseradish cream or smoked butter béarnaise, and a keto veggie side like the sprouted broccoli.
Keto Menu Highlight: We’re totally intrigued by the grilled thick cut bacon appetizer (yum). Plus, keto and bacon are the perfect pair!
8136 W 3rd St, Los Angeles
If you’re seeking true American BBQ while eating out on the keto diet, this is the spot. Dedicated pitmaster, Burt Bakman, has a “lifelong obsession” to perfect his craft – and it shows in the food. Choose from mouthwatering brisket, pulled pork, various types of ribs and smoked chicken. Note that the sauces come on the side, so you have even more control over your calories and carbs.
Keto Menu Highlight: The beef rib at this keto-friendly restaurant in Los Angeles is only available on the weekends and it’s first come first serve (apparently it sells out quickly)! Reviewers say its fall-off-the-bone tender, with great beef flavor.
4) Quarters Korean BBQ
3465 W 6th St, C-130, Los Angeles
This Korean BBQ restaurant offers “an inventive menu designed to be approachable and fun.” Choose between premium beef tapas (grilled bulgogi, boneless short rib and ribeye). They also offer pork and Korean tapas, along with seafood. All protein comes to the table raw and you cook it on a mini grill at your table – which is pretty awesome!
Keto Menu Highlight: Try the pork belly tapas for a true keto meal containing protein and fat!
5) Bulletproof Coffee
300 S Santa Fe Ave, Los Angeles
The “Bulletproof Diet” is a ketogenic diet, so everything you find at this keto restaurant in Los Angeles will be fair game! Choose between a variety of bulletproof coffee and espresso drinks made with superstar keto ingredients like grass-fed butter, MCT Oil and Collagen Protein. They also offer non-coffee drinks and keto-friendly food and “sweets” options.
Keto Menu Highlight: Try some bulletproof ice cream for a filling, high-fat, no sugar treat that will leave you happy for hours!
6) Wagyu Meat and Grill
7808 Orangethorpe Ave, Buena Park
This small, family-owned teriyaki grill and fresh meat market offers top quality Wagyu beef meals that are “convenient and affordable”. Selections include beef, chicken, pork, salmon and avocado bowls and plates. According to Yelp reviewers, their beef is truly something special. The company describes it as having “intense marbling, premium taste and numerous health benefits”.
Keto Menu Highlight: Reviewers say the chicken at this keto restaurant is good but the beef is “out of this world”. Add an entire sliced avocado for an extra keto boost!
7) Sugar Free Shack
17234 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance
On keto and have a major sweet tooth? Well then, this is your spot! Catered specifically to those looking to satisfy their sugar cravings in a healthier way, they offer sugar-free, low-carb, keto-friendly treats made from almond flour. Their products use healthier ingredients and don’t contain artificial sweeteners. Choose from cookies, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, donuts and more.
Keto Menu Highlight: For cinnamon lovers, Yelp reviewers recommend the churro (only 3 net carbs); and chocolate lovers need to try the chocolate donut (only 4 net carbs)!
