The combination of grapefruit and pineapple is so perfectly fruity and tart that I didn’t want to mask the beautiful flavors with too many other ingredients. I always add this versatile meal replacement shake powder into my smoothies because it keeps me satisfied for longer!

Ways to “Shake Up” this Smoothie
This recipe is essentially a tropical greens smoothie, so feel free to swap out ingredients for your choice of greens or fruit! Below are a few alternative options you can try for a similar flavor, depending on what ingredients you have available...
- Kale instead of spinach
- Mango or peach instead of pineapple
- Water or coconut water instead of coconut milk
- Coconut yogurt for a completely vegan version
How to Make this Smoothie
The first step to making this smoothie is peeling and freezing your grapefruit. Grapefruit can be quite bitter if the pith and rind aren’t removed, so I recommend cutting the rind off with a knife to easily carve out grapefruit segments. You can also peel grapefruit by hand, but I find this process takes longer and I don’t always have time for it. Once you have your grapefruit segments, place them in your freezer to freeze overnight!
After you have your frozen grapefruit, you’re ready to make the smoothie! Add all your ingredients into a blender and blend until you reach a smooth and creamy consistency - making sure there are no chunks of fruit remaining. Serve your finished smoothie in a glass or shaker cup and enjoy!
