We're on island time with this Tropical Papaya Smoothie! Made with fresh, juicy fruit, it's the most refreshing drink for a hot summer day.
Tropical Papaya Smoothie Recipe
We're in peak papaya season right now, so you know I had to create a drink using this delicious fruit! Papaya has a sweet, melon-y flavor and a creamy texture that's absolutely irresistible -- and tastes incredible in this Tropical Papaya Smoothie.
This refreshing beverage is full of vitamin C and antioxidants from papaya and pineapple, which helps me feel my best from the inside out, while satisfying my cravings for sweets. Take advantage of this seasonal tropical fruit and enjoy this yummy shake for a meal (like breakfast!), or dessert!
How to Prepare Papaya
If you’ve never prepared a papaya, it’s super easy, so don’t worry! First, cut the papaya in half lengthwise with a sharp knife. Once you have your papaya open, you will see the middle contains black seeds. Just simply use a spoon to scrape out all the seeds and discard. Next, carefully cut the papaya meat away from the skin and cut the papaya into wedges. Alternatively, you can cut the papaya into slices and then remove the skin from each slice.

Ways to “Shake Up” This Smoothie
The star ingredient of this smoothie is the papaya, so you can totally experiment with the other ingredients! Papaya is mild in flavor, so I recommend using other subtly sweet fruits to complement the papaya. Check out some of these alternative ingredients you can try using!
- Mango or peach instead of pineapple: For a similar tropical flavor
- Flax or hemp seed instead of chia seeds: Adds more texture
- Almond or coconut milk instead of coconut water: For a creamier taste
How to Make this Smoothie
After you’ve cut your papaya, you're ready to make this revitalizing smoothie! Simply combine all the ingredients into your blender and blend until everything is completely combined and smooth. At this point, you can see if you want to add ice for extra thickness. If you choose to add ice, I recommend starting with half a cup and blending until everything is incorporated and smooth again. After you reach your desired consistency, pour your smoothie into a glass and sip away!
