My starting weight was 160 lbs and I am proud to say that I now weigh 145 lbs – so I’ve lost 15 lbs. I said goodbye to my baggy clothes... I feel good when I wake up, and I have a regular exercise schedule.... I simply feel awesome!
What was your biggest challenge when it came to losing the weight?
I’m 5’1 and have never considered myself thin. Instead, I’ve always struggled with my weight. Plus, being on the shorter side makes it easier to notice any weight gain.
I had my first daughter 20 years ago and gained 60 pounds. I found it very hard to lose that weight, and just when I finally got to my goal weight, I became pregnant with daughter number 2. Again, I worked hard for a year to lose that 60 pounds and then I got pregnant with daughter number 3.
It was definitely harder to lose the weight after my third child. I was working full-time and constantly tired. I also found out soon after having her that I had hypothyroidism, also called “underactive thyroid” – which can cause unwanted symptoms including slowing the metabolism. That was 13 years ago.
Since then, I have gone up and down 25 lbs various times. I was never one to exercise regularly and have quit my exercise routine what seems like a thousand times. I was also diagnosed with Hashimotos about a year ago, an autoimmune disorder that includes fatigue and weight gain as potential side effects. I have worked very hard not to let that be an excuse for not getting healthy.
I try not to talk about my frustration with my body or weight because I have 3 strong, athletic girls who we are raising to know that they are more than their physical appearance. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t gotten frustrated or mad at myself for my weight issues along the way.
What motivated you to make a change?
The transformation to a healthier me started about 7 weeks into the Coronavirus pandemic. The first 6 weeks were pretty much a free-for-all in my house…
My kids baked and I ate it. My husband cooked and I ate it. I was worried, and I drank it. I gained 10 lbs. My sister is a personal trainer and she gained 6 lbs! Eventually, we discussed how the crisis could go on for a long time, but we could not continue on that path for long!
So, that’s when we made a pact… I would start exercising and she would be my accountability partner. Tell us about your success!
I’ve been using 310 products for about four months, since the beginning of May. And though the weight has been slow to come off – likely due to my personal health struggles - my physical appearance has drastically improved and I now walk/jog about 3 miles a day, 5 days a week.
I try to remind myself that success is so much more than the number on the scale, but it also feels really amazing to keep inching towards my goal. Tell us about your healthy lifestyle routine…
My healthy, clean dietary routine starts around 7:30am when I wake up and have a 310 Lemonade. I also make a pitcher of 310 Tea and drink it all day. I have a shake for breakfast around 10:30am.
I drink water until lunch, and as my meal I sometimes have a shake or another healthy option. I then have a snack of either fruit or nuts/beef jerky, or a hard-boiled egg and veggies. Then I eat dinner around 7:00.
I don’t intermittent fast, but I make it a point not to eat after dinner. I also take the 310 Probiotics and the 310 Digestive Enzymes, and on occasion, I will also use the 310 Thin if I feel like I went overboard on the weekend. Do you have a MUST-TRY shake recipe you'd like to share?
Two of my favorite shake recipes are both super-simple and super-delicious. The first one includes mango coconut water, frozen pineapple, frozen mango, 310 Vanilla and ice. Do you have advice for anyone just starting their journey?
My advice to anyone who is just starting off on their health journey is first of all, try 310! You won’t be disappointed. Then, don’t just watch the activity in the 310 Community from the sidelines but be active in it. Support others and chime in when you can.
Don’t worry about the scale… it’s just a number. It’s our perception of that number that messes with our minds. Don’t give up, just take it one day and one meal at a time.
