Tell us about your journey to better health…
I’ve been able to lose weight in the past by focusing on a healthy diet and exercise, working out about 5 times a week. But then in the last few years, I became lazy, and when Covid arrived in 2020 and I was furloughed, it just made the situation even worse. I lounged around and didn’t do very much at all! My husband would get up early to go for walks and I just stayed in bed.
My husband and I then booked a trip to Mexico with a group of friends, and I found myself confronting the fact that I needed to lose weight, and fast. Also around that time, my cousin started drinking 310 Shakes, and I was following her weight loss success on Facebook. Eventually, I decided to jump in and try them for myself! I didn’t have huge expectations at that point because I had tried many other things before turning to meal replacement shakes. I didn’t lose anything for the first couple of weeks, but then I started dropping the weight!
What motivated you to make a change?
My “ah-ha” moment when I knew I needed to make a change was when my clothes weren’t fitting. I also really didn’t like the way I was feeling, (and our vacation was coming up), and I made the decision to try 310!
My biggest struggle at first was my mindset, and getting it into the right place. But once I was fully committed, I knew I could do it! I needed an extra push and everything happening in my life at that moment was it.
In regards to starting, there were already quite a few foods that I didn’t eat, sometimes making daily meals challenging. So, having some of my normal meals replaced with shakes was actually an extremely convenient plan for me. I typically don’t eat eggs, yogurt, milk, or animal protein, so 310 Organic Shakes were also perfect since they’re completely vegan, AND they taste great!
Tell us about your success!
When I started drinking 310 Shakes paired with a healthier, cleaner diet in June of 2020, I was 199 lbs. …and currently I’m 154 lbs. – so I’ve been able to lose 45 lbs. so far! I only have 4 more lbs. to go to reach my goal weight – which feels amazing.
As for “off the scale” victories, my clothing sizes have gone down to a 6/8 or a small/medium, and I don’t have as many acne breakouts! It feels fantastic! In addition, my husband also now drinks 310 Shakes too paired with a healthier diet, and has lost 20 lbs.! He is not as “strict” as me with his regimen, but he’s doing fantastic, and it’s so exciting that we’re doing it together.
What do you love BEST about 310 Shakes?
There are so many things that I love about 310 Shakes, but one of the things I like best is that I can mix literally anything that I like into my daily smoothies and they taste amazing. There are also so many delicious and unique 310 Shake flavors to choose from, which keeps things exciting and allows me to switch up recipes.
Tell us about your healthy lifestyle routine…
Currently, my healthy lifestyle goals include..
- Closing the 3 loops on my Apple Watch (exercise, calories burned, and standing up every hour).
- Eating 1,200 calories per day or less
My day starts at 4:44am (Monday thru Friday) when my alarm goes off and my husband and I jump out of bed and get dressed for our morning walk! We take about a 35-minute walk (2.14 miles) during the weekdays. On the weekends we walk about 60 – 80 minutes. (When I don’t walk, I do my weighted hula hoop for 30 minutes).
After walking, I typically change and relax, then drink a cup of coffee with sugar-free creamer. I try to stay away from sugar because I have type 1 diabetes. After that, I get ready for the day and have my breakfast shake between 8:45 – 9:30am. This typically consists of ½ a banana and another ingredient of my choice – which lately has been ¼ cup of pumpkin puree.
Throughout the day, I drink 64 ounces of water and chew gum! For lunch I have another shake, using a ¼ cup of 2 different types of fruit. Sometimes, I also add 310 PB Powder.
My shakes aren’t high in calories, but they do fill me up. My favorite shake flavors are the Vanilla, Chocolate, Salted Caramel, and Pumpkin Spice. I also loved Strawberry and can’t wait for that shake flavor to come back!
I’m so lucky to have my husband who cooks for me, making lots and lots of yummy vegetables. I eat animal protein maybe twice a week, so not often. I also really enjoy the 310 Hibiscus Tea… I make a huge batch and drink it as iced tea. If I need a snack, I often have string cheese, pickles, popcorn, or veggies.
Do you have a MUST-TRY shake recipe you’d like to share?
As for a must-try shake recipe, I love combining 8 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/4 cup frozen pumpkin purée, 310 Pumpkin Spice or 310 Chocolate powder, 1/2 teaspoon 310 PB Powder, and 8-10 ice cubes in a blender. I mix it all up in a blender and it tastes awesome!
Another smoothie recipe I love is 310 Salted Caramel, frozen apple, 8 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and 2 tablespoons raw oatmeal in a blender. It’s so delicious! And I regularly enjoy 310 pancakes... courtesy of my husband on the weekends. I just started eating the pancakes about a month ago and love them!
What does the 310 Community mean to you?
When it comes to the success that I’ve made, the 310 Community has played a large part! This awesome community is full of others on their own weight loss journey’s, along with 310 health & fitness coaches to help give tips and advice. I really consider the Community like family... full of encouragement and love! I tend to post things in the group right before going to bed and I wake up to SO many messages! I try my best to answer everyone’s messages and it’s just such a great feeling that people understand and care!
Do you have advice for anyone just starting their journey?
My advice to anyone just starting out on their own health journey is that I have realized nothing is magic. 310 success isn’t overnight... It does take commitment, determination, and as I mentioned earlier, a beneficial change in mindset! I hear a lot of stories about people falling off track, giving themselves “cheat” days, and overall just being really hard on themselves. My advice is to give yourself GRACE! Get rid of the negativity that your mind creates and turn it into successes!
Personally, I choose to weigh myself every day, but only pay attention to the numbers that go down! I eat a chicken burger and fries maybe once a month, but there is no guilt! It’s all part of the plan!
