The Turning Point...
Throughout my life, I had never really taken my weight seriously. I just blamed all the extra weight on prescriptions, my age, and physical ailments. I thought, “It is what it is.” I kind of just gave up. My usual excuses? I figured it was too confusing to know what is actually healthy and what isn't with all the diets out there. I thought it was too painful to exercise. Or I was just too tired. I’d always just get frustrated and go get a comforting snack instead.
Although I was a total junk-food-junkie, I’m actually a pretty picky eater and hate cooking, so it just seemed easier to just snack all the time. I had constant cravings for cakes and sweets. I’d even get anxiety thinking about what was actually healthy to eat—and worse—how to cook it!
I was feeling horrible and went to multiple doctors. I guess I just hadn’t realized how high my weight had gotten until I was at the doctors office. My doctor then told me I had high blood pressure, that I was pre-diabetic, had high cholesterol, and that my blood work was not good. We agreed to give me 6 months to get healthier without prescriptions. I decided I wanted to be around longer for my amazing granddaughter and I HAD to change starting that day!
In June of 2019, about 6 months ago, I searched comparisons of protein and weight loss shakes and thank goodness I found 310 Nutrition!
I went from 167 pounds to 139 pounds and I know that this is something I can stick with to get to my goal of 125 pounds—no prescriptions needed! The shakes are so stress free and filling. Here’s how I got healthy with 310 Nutrition and keep it going to this day:
I make a fuller shake in the morning (a Chocolate 310 Meal Replacement Shake) with vanilla unsweetened almond milk, water or ice, MCT Oil to help lose the weight, Collagen Powder to help strengthen my joints and improve my skin, and 310 Juice (a pre-made veggie/fruit superfood mix), but don't drink it until after 10 am, as I’ve been trying to somewhat incorporate intermittent fasting!
Lunch varies from tuna, eggs, salads, and oatmeal. I also keep grapes, cucumbers, oranges and apples on hand for snacking.
My dinner shake is usually my favorite: 310 Strawberry, vanilla unsweetened almond milk, water, flax, half a frozen banana, and strawberries.
I have really upped my water intake too! Plus, I have learned that when I think I want to snack, I might just be thirsty. So I am now trying to incorporate the 310 Detox Tea, which helps get rid of toxins, and 310 Lemonades in the morning and evening to continue drinking enough water!
I love the flavors and the ease of making the shakes and how I feel when I drink them! I no longer get anxiety about what is healthy or not healthy to eat, have to worry about cooking so much, or get frustrated over diets that don’t work. Without worrying about all 3 meals and just 1, I am experimenting with learning new ways of cooking vegetables and healthier foods that I never would've eaten before.
And it’s not just about the weight I’ve lost. My clothes are too big now! My most loved rings are fitting me again. I have neck and shoulder lines. After the first months of losing weight I actually felt better and healthy enough to incorporate yoga into my days which together with 310 makes me feel like I have a whole new healthy lifestyle. And the most important thing? My granddaughter said I look better now than I did in my 20's! And I have energy to spend lots of quality time with her!
I feel amazing! I had every excuse in the world not to eat better and definitely not to exercise. I consider myself a work-in-progress and I’m still trying to lose more weight and get healthier, but with much more confidence and excitement now.
